i think the executive orders directing agencies to end energy efficiency regulations and open up more land to drilling and mining is so indicative of the character of the american right — in its view everything, whether people or our larger environment, is something to be exploited and dominated

I feel mislead by all dystopian literature. It's supposed to be a powerful authoritarian government that lords over a cowering population, and and we just need need a few brave acts of heroism to give the people the courage to rise up.
Instead it's just half the country being dumb and mean.

It may be a small consolation, but Doubleday has a ton of wonderful books coming out next year, including ones about the climate crisis, the Supreme Court, and immigrant stories
