#Sunsets are amazing wherever we are.
A sunset in NE England at 6:30ish pm. A song thrush belts out a tune. High above the horizon are purpled grey skies and below are fierce ember clouds, throwing heat on the cold blue of skies on the horizon.

This sunset looks fantastic? What if I told you that was from 10 yrs ago, that this was Batu Ferringhi, Penang, and the the view was northward of Banda Aceh. These sunsets were/are due to forest fires. And they’ll get more frequent with international pressures of capitalism. #ClimateCrisis
High above the horizon at sunset are wispy off-white clouds, slightly warm like they’re lightly toasted. Below that is a tropical rain storm brewing and a grey cloud is hazy around the edges where the sun tries hard to break through the smoke. On the foreshore waves slosh around parked jet-skis. I stood on a sandy shore.

I’ve had to look at this every time I open the Guardian app today. I feel nauseated by this photo of Farage. This is not my future PM (any more than Johnson, May or Sunak ever were)

High above the horizon is cold mid-blue sky stretching upwards. On the horizon is a vestige of hot embers from the sunset. The foliage here is still green. A creature moves through the grass.

My skyscape since whenever (2011). Many will say this sunset is dull/meh, but each day at about sunset I look out and say “hi”. A couple of years ago I was housebound (thanks, spine😔) and this view kept me going:
Atheist listening to Hildegard of Bingen, I’m looking at a calm sunset. High above are cloudless cool blue skies. Below are thin cold clouds that seem purple. On the horizon are traces of warm gold from a setting sun. Below the horizon is green foliage from deciduous trees.

Hello autumn, my old friend. Leaves on sycamores are changing and many berry trees/shrubs are readying themselves for their berry eaters/propagators. The migrant birds are gone back south. Wood pigeons coo.

After the rain
It pelted down with cooling rain for ten minutes. Then there were these grey clouds edged with bright gold scudding across. The sky between was a cool light blue.

Looking up from the horizon, a sky filled with smoky and darker grey clouds. There’s a hint of pink just above the horizon. Below are trees, very dark cool green. 15°c and wind 15mph.

A rural landscape. There are clouds heavy grey below but silver-rimmed above. There are trees with dark green foliage and those with green foliage that are edged with bright green. The over-all feeling is renewal and optimism.

Over on X a couple of hours ago - a spat between Dan Hodges and Wigmore:
Dan Hodges retweets a post by Tara Copp where she writes about the flagging for deletion of military images of “Enola Gay” by the Pentagon. Hodges calls the move “early winner of today’s “Trump Has Literally Gone Mad” award”. Wigmore rather wildly retaliates by calling the post by Copp “fake news” because she’s an AP reporter and Trump has banned AP from the WH, and accuses Hodges of having off the scale “Trump Derangement Syndrome”.
