And on the subject of figure skating music, I also enjoyed the 90s theme for the Rhythm Dance for the Ice Dance, and loved the British pairs' music choice and their thematically appropriate costumes. It looked like they were having fun with it, and good for them.

Sigh. I love a coffee sponge and coffee buttercream, but they're always stuffed with walnuts.

(For anyone thinking of saying we can just omit the walnuts, yes, we know that, thanks. A whole sponge cake would go to waste at home, so all I want is to have a slice when out for coffee/tea and cake.)

I'm just watching the Women's Team figure skating final now: iPlayer, Winter Olympics, View All, Day 2, scroll down to Live: Day 2: Extra - Evening featuring Team Figure Skating, around 190 mins into the programme. Hope you can find it!

Apparently it's used both generically and is a brand, according to wikipedia.

I was most surprised by the English teacher acting as if this book were somehow revelatory. It made me wonder if he'd never been on playground duty. Or noticed anything that happened in the registration form I was in.

It wasn't for 'O' levels - it was just English class in third year.
February 9, 2026 at 3:48 PM
I had to read the book at secondary school and the class was given the exercise of writing a poem about it. Enough said.
