I don't think being called leftist is a bad thing. The movement behind resistance to authoritarian regimes is leftist by definition, even if people outside these distinctions partake.

This isn't about Portland DSA! It's about Palestine solidarity groups in Corvallis and Albany.

I agree with you, but I would argue the so-called progressive outliers have been the ones persuading people and getting results, not the moderates.

Antifascism is a distinctly left-wing movement that opposes the far-right. Increasingly, standing up and doing what's right is politically leftist, too. Notably, at least one of the two new Democratic governors has already rejected the establishment-driven vote last night, furthering the split.

For this story I spoke to leftist organizers in Oregon, the kind of place where national pundits act like Zohran Mamdani's platform could never be successful. These local activists face the same rhetoric designed to smear them that Mamdani does, but they all represent a larger, unstoppable shift.

I’m saying that it doesn’t matter whether you’re local to these senators because people are impacted everywhere—while these wealthy elite will never suffer the consequences of their decisions. Others will. The loss of SNAP is on Republicans. Capitulating on healthcare is on these Dems.

I am really hoping for the quick restoration of SNAP benefits and for your family to be able to eat. I’m so sorry that you’ve been going through this, it’s not right. I would just add that people will die without health insurance, because they won’t be able to afford life-sustaining meds/care.

This decision could kill people around the entire country, so unless you’ve set foot in vulnerable communities in every state I don’t want to hear it.

Maggie Hassan is a perfect example of someone who has lived a full, wealthy life and never had to worry about where the money for healthcare came from. Her father was HUDSEC under Johnson and she was general counsel at a Harvard medical hospital before running for office.

That’s very kind of you—not yet, from what I can tell, but I’ll return if I find out!

A young woman on TikTok recently posted a video speaking about how she will die without the insulin she will no longer be able to afford. How she won’t be able to stockpile it forever. How heavy it was to consider that as a young person full of dreams and potential. My heart breaks for her.

They only love her when she conforms to their exact body type preferences, have no problem harassing and demeaning her otherwise, and won’t support her actual work. Because MAGA doesn’t go to women-led movies
