Is discretion even noticed, appreciated, in a year like 2025? It’s really hard to say. But what I can say is, yes, this year was challenging. Next year might be too, and a few more after that. But some good things happened this year, too, and to not focus on them, well, that lets the bad stuff win.

And so I end the year partially disappointed in myself for not doing a better job articulating some of the cool projects I’ve worked on this year, because I doubled down on empathy, focused on not making anyone having a shit year feel any worse, really. And, I don’t know, did it even work?

That isn’t really the kind of marketing or messaging that anyone relishes in creating. It was hard to simultaneously be celebratory, happy for mine and others’ small wins - so instead, I mostly wasn’t. Most of my case studies for this year didn’t just go unshared - they went unwritten.
