The “female-coded” person, to borrow Krugman’s terminology, may feel overwhelmed by child-care costs, ashamed that she can’t acquire a mortgage, or hollowed out by long hours as an I.C.U. nurse, but such feelings do not disturb the order of the universe. This person’s duties to protect, provide, and procreate are real, but they do not take the capital “P.” This person’s opinions matter, but not decisively. The Times pundit Ezra Klein has lately suggested that Democrats consider running anti-abortion candidates in red states, even though more than three-quarters of Gen Z women support abortion rights. Rights, like jobs, can be gender-coded, and these rights are valued accordingly.

On a Friday afternoon, minutes after emailing discovery requests to counsel for England Logistics, Inc., Katie Panzer (Zachary Soqui’s counsel) posted a video on her public Instagram account stating as follows: So if you know me in real life, you probably know that I am a petty-ass bitch. And one of my favorite things to do is drop a bunch of bullshit on opposing counsel’s desk at like 4:45 on a Friday afternoon, and then be like, thanks so much. Have a great weekend!1 After seeing the video, England’s counsel asked Mr. Soqui’s counsel to withdraw the discovery requests, citing the video as evidence the requests were propounded for an improper purpose in violation of Rule 26(g) of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. When Mr. Soqui’s counsel declined, England served responses and objections— objecting to all the requests based on improper purpose, asserting additional objections to all but one request, and substantively responding to some of the requests. The parties met and conferred regarding the sufficiency of England’s responses and objections but could not resolve the dispute. Mr. Soqui then filed a motion to (1) compel supplemental responses to the discovery requests and (2) impose sanctions on England under Rule 26(g). Mr. Soqui claims England’s improper-purpose objection is “meritless” and it “improperly refused to respond” to legitimate discovery requests.5 Mr. Soqui also asserts England should be sanctioned because it used the improper-purpose objection to “attempt to embarrass, bully, and harass Ms. Panzer into withdrawing proper discovery requests.”6 Englandopposed the motion and filed its own motion for sanctions under Rule 26(g), arguing Ms. Panzer’s behavior demonstrated the requests were propounded for an improper purpose. The court held a hearing on these motions on October 28, 2025.9 As explained at the hearing and below, Mr. Soqui’s motion is granted in part and denied in part, and England’s motion is denied.

In the decision Judge Garrett L. Wong found O’Connor violated city building and planning codes, as well as California’s Unfair Competition Law, and State Housing Law. “Every material assertion that he advanced in his testimony was either impeached by his words or contradicted by credible evidence,” Wong wrote in the decision. “The evidence shows his proclivity for deceit and opportunity, even under oath.”

FYI I sent my own version of this tailored to California focusing on specific measures within the gambit of state legislatures and Tesla-related pain points (and also expanded to cover many of his DOGE lackeys who are from here)
Dear Assemblywoman _____, I am a constituent from ____. California needs to be doing more to slow the hostile takeover of the federal government and all of our private data by Elon Musk. Musk was denied the top level of security clearance, is unelected, and has had no responsibilities or power granted to him by Congress, yet he and his unvetted team of teenagers and recent college graduates have tapped into numerous federal agencies to download Americans' private, personal data in order to train AI models, to block or steal funds allocated by law, and to retaliate against perceived enemies of Trump, including presumably the entire "blue" state of California. While the is plainly in violation of the law and the Constitution, government officials at all levels have been slow to block him, and he is at this moment still unlawfully accessing and modifying the private information of individual Californians. I cannot emphasize enough that if this is allowed to continue, we lose our constitutional democracy. Authoritarian overreach must be stopped immediately, before it gains a foothold. I know as a state representative, there are many things you cannot do. But it is not nothing. I am asking you to take action to preserve our democracy and our Constitution by sponsoring and passing State laws that punish coup participants like Elon Musk and deter others from abetting him and his cabal: Declare that that any individuals or companies with executives in the C-suite engaging in open violation of the laws and Constitution of the United States are: 1) forever barred from contracting with any entity in California receiving state funds 2) are (or any product made by them are) ineligible for any state tax credits, rebates, or deductions 3) any property or funds in the state is subject to civil forfeiture upon suit by the CA AG for damages from illegal conduct (including as substitute for any funds illegally seized).
