Today government publishes latest consultation on #procurement including proposing relaxation of competition in certain areas and targets for #socialenterprise spend by public authorities. No mention of inclusive growth. The deadlne for responses is September 5th 2025

UK government's #industrialstrategy mentions procurement 24 times, using it to create high qualtiy jobs. We now need deeds - having #RealLIvingWage and #GoodWorks standards for all public authority contracts would bring real change to real people. Retweet if you agree.

This is an interesting idea, & would make our system a bit more like the way it works in much of Europe, where you get a % of your previous income when you become unemployed, but with a time limit (basically,more generous safety net than our system, but for a shorter time) www.gov.uk/government/c...

An important new development, there is a desperate need to rebalance the social security system to a more contributory system
Liz Kendall announces that she will consult on a new system of "unemployment insurance" – a shift towards a more contributory model.
