I’m also thankful for the trust my Australian colleagues have placed in me. It was very special to be able to celebrate this news immediately with friends and colleagues at #AANZCA25 and #JERAA25

The idea started 5 years ago with Christiane Eilders in one of many super fun brainstorming sessions in her office @hhu.de, who is now part of my international academic advisory board (together with @nicolecurato.bsky.social , @karinwahlj.bsky.social & @fabiogiglietto.bsky.social). Thank you! 🙏

I’m deeply grateful to Axel Bruns @snurb.info, the most generous mentor I could have imagined, who helped me navigate Australian academia and the ARC funding landscape and to many colleagues in the @qutdmrc.bsky.social who have supported me! 🧠♥️

A core output will be a civic literacy module designed to equip citizens of all ages with critical tools for navigating digital opinion formation in times of mis-/disinformation and genAI.

Starting in 2026, over the next three years, the project will examine how people form opinions, around topics like climate change and immigration, on mainstream digital/social media platforms (Facebook, Reddit & Wikipedia).
