Needles will all have fallen off by Christmas if you do that, surely? But I absolutely share the desire for a bit of brightness. Capitalism is missing a trick, I can fully see, oh, light-up plastic turkeys? Sparkly autumn leaf garlands? catching on for 1 - 30 Nov.

Oh they absolutely did not do that. It was honestly just a trendy name for a buffet with generous amounts of cold meat 😁

It was. My childhood - 1960s/70s. I worked out what it meant eventually 😅

One year my Mum and her mate, whose family we were doing Christmas with, decided they cba to spend all day in the kitchen. So they hit on the then super trendy idea of doing "a smörgåsbord" instead. It was pretty good tbf! (This was the 70s when "contintental quilts" were also new and daring...)

I don't know if everyone else finds it innocuous, but "repost if you agree" hits me right in the inner two year old. Really gives me the rage 😂
