It’s utterly draining. Sometimes self-care is needed.

That bloody ‘biological’ wording again. I thought it was a slip by a local journo when I saw it the first time. Now it seems standard. I had complained. Will do so again.

Ahhhh at £165 for a ticket that’s a hard no….

It’s always been that bad. We picked up on a concept in a talk by Prof Sugata Mitra and had the only usable screen facing into the sitting room. Kids played, we could see everything. Best non-intrusive parental control that developed self-control on their part too.

Took an avocado to the checkout in Safeway many moons (decades) ago. “That mango’s a bit off,” said the cashier. “Ten pee.”

I did not argue.

Ohh yes. And before that, cassette tapes.

Cleo is correct. Isn't she just gorgeous!

I’d never heard of them. I couldn’t tell you if I’ve used one in anything I’ve written and I’ve written a few things. I don’t recall being taught English grammar in any depth (70s). The kids learned them, used them for SATs and never mentioned them again. I support your niche complaint!

One? You’re well in credit.

You’ve read them? Your sacrifice is noted.

Shocked.

You need to check out @themerl.bsky.social for Absolute Units. Also for the hög.

Oooh! I don't know any of those so I am off down the rabbit hole. Thank you!

What the public sees is full of holes. What is implemented in a state of hype without understanding data is definitely shitty (hello, A-levels). The proper infrastructure stuff that has been ticking along under the hood for years (machine vision, text<>speech, ML, neural networks) is another matter.

Oooh! Something for two adults and two late teens to play between courses on Christmas Eve. Last year we tried to get them into D&D, which was a partial but unrepeated success.

Risotto was my go-to for feeding the kids for years. The top choices were green (spinach), brown (mushroom), pink (beetroot) and de la Casa (all the veg). Stopped them thinking about the actual vegetable, no picky eating. Green is still a strong favourite, but now with pan fried sea bass.

It needs a breakout story to be honest, something properly impressive at scale. I’m watching the internet access developments quite closely as those will be transformational rather than others that simply chip away at tech giant dominance in hosting and processing.

A lot of these started with blockchain for ledger keeping - eg Brooklyn microgrid was the PoC in 2016 for supply / demand of local renewables (I did some work w/Siemens on similar). I’ve seen processing on demand not subscription, web hosting, & final mile internet (UN giga, world mobile, Weaver 5G)

Distributed Physical Infrastructure Networks. Magnificent things. There are all sorts of schemes in processing, energy, telecoms just poised to break through.
