Dog loving knitter ( no I don’t knit with my dogs hair) living in south west of England
Not so much a word but Whodunit. My daughter as a teenage in an English class asked what a wodunit (pronounced it wad unit) was after seeing it written down. It was explained to her it’s a who dun it.

I look forward to hearing he’s fallen out of a a 5th floor window. But perhaps not as wouldn’t be able to tell ‘told you so’

Yes of course they don’t. Just like the Russians didn’t want anything from his chum who’s now in prison.

Problem with that over here near Chippenham. I’ve started collecting all mine from pick up points. Constant photos on community Facebook pages asking is this your door step it’s not mine have you got my parcel.

How are these people so stupid. Reeves increased the minimum wage in the budget so why on earth would she say the minimum wage is too high. I’ve had a day of idiotic bigots and I’m certainly not suffering fools gladly today.

I spin everything twice. My current washing machine is pretty rubbish I really need a new one with better spin. Tumble dryer is restricted to winter use, unavoidable in a British winter. Hate drying washing inside but it never ends up on a radiator as we don’t have any.

Bought a condenser dryer last year. Not surprised by this. The water collects in a container you take out and empty after your load is dry. A couple of bath towels and there’s around a litre of water.

Also now wagging his ridiculously long tale, adorable.

When I buy a real one they’re always labelled as spruce or fir never has Christmas on the label.
November 20, 2025 at 12:30 PM
I suspect either A it’s a marketing ploy means they can sell excess stock after Christmas and try and convince shoppers they need an evergreen tree at Easter. Or B Didn’t want to put artificial as in plastic on the box. When I buy my real tree they’re labelled as fir or spruce trees never Christmas

I never saw a starling where I lived for 20 years in garden, edge of small market town S. Wiltshire ‘70s estate. Now moved to N. Wiltshire ‘70s estate rural area I constantly see them. Garden, large tree just outside house chattering away and enjoying splashing in puddles in summer. A joy to watch

That’s just so sad. My gt grandmother’s first husband’s surname was Donovan he was a member of a Lancashire regiment. Can’t remember off hand which one.
November 9, 2025 at 10:10 PM
Thank you. Fortunately my great grandmother remarried and went on to have 5 more children one being my grandmother, who did visit Malta with my mother. They laid some flowers at his marked grave on behalf of Auntie Ellen and took photographs for her.

Which is why in the past I chose a white poppy. In memory of my gt grandmother, lost her 1st husband in WW1 leaving her with 2 children the youngest 2 yrs old my great aunt and godmother Ellen. Never saw her father’s grave on Malta. He was graveley injured at Gallipoli died & buried on Malta.

Also the over promoted prick, Cummings part of a govt of over promoted pricks - Hancock and co, showing a complete lack of irony.

She didn’t defect she was elected as Labour then became an independent and has now joined the Greens. She needs to make her mind up, if I had voted for her I’d be furious.
November 7, 2025 at 10:46 AM
How can you defect from being an independent?
November 7, 2025 at 10:44 AM
Oh the cutting out is the worst. Cut the pattern out, fine. After a bit of faffing and making sure I’ve got fabric the right way round and will have a pair of sleeves not 2 left sleeves, all pinned to fabric. Then look at it for at least a day to pluck up the courage to cut it out.

That’s clever. Saw your post while sitting here prevaricating about getting the sewing machine out. I have a fully cut out dress sitting on the dining table and just not feeling the sewing vibes today.

For years I called an elderly lady in our street Aunt Susie thinking we were weren’t actually related and we just called her that. Found out as an adult she was actually my grandmother’s aunt (her mother’s sister) so actually my great, great aunt.

When I make turkey broth after Christmas I always add some shredded sprouts at the end.

Quite a bit to unpack from one reasonably short paragraph.
