Good!! (she writes from bed where it feels like she now lives) If you’re not going to count at least some flipping farm equipment in there then nobody is going to be able to afford to take on a farm at all. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Little baby Sybil in 2020 vs Sybil making my friend Emma hold her paw while sitting on the sofa in 2025. What a good life.

For anyone who’s had enough hard news for 2025, I have written a nice cosy story about inadvertent Christmas animals, with lots of pictures of Sybil and Genevieve looking either tiny or magnificent or both

The Inside Legoland at Christmas doc on All4 is absolutely lovely and has it all: nerds, health and safety, snow, dancers, a handmade 9m-tall Duplo tree and dogs in Christmas jumpers.

My husband and dog very much tolerated it at best but if you love lights and they make you a bit emotional and people coming together at Christmas just makes you even more so, and then there’s a six-foot Nutcracker doll in a display case then this is the place for you, pal!

Finally went to the Lower Morden Lane Christmas lights and WOW. Home Alone’s lighting happened in South London and it’s raising money for St Raphael’s Hospice!

I gave #Karlos all 8 of my votes even though I was not watching the final but looking at Christmassy tractors and I am now DOUBLE THRILLED! #Strictly

SHE FUCKING DID IT!! Neat as a bloody pin! Well done Rachel Proudley and Easy Boy (insert rest of extended insane showjumping name here!) and ALL of the Puissance’s certifiable riders and horses!

“He’s limping and he’s grinning and that says it all.” Fuck meeeee, what a fall for Nathan Bull who…may still count as having jumped clear?

Oh my GOD! Andrew Hodgins and his horse!!! Like watching an overcaffeinated Labrador JUMPING THE BLOODY MOON!
December 18, 2025 at 10:00 PM
Poor old Oliver Fletcher and his horse just went straight through it in full Thelwell. But for a sense of the scale of it, here he is showing it to his horse who, amazingly, didn’t just go “oh no thank you, I don’t think”.
December 18, 2025 at 9:55 PM
This jump is now at SEVEN FOOT. I am frankly amazed that this horse got over it at all let alone while mugging for the camera like someone auditioning for a Britain’s Funniest Animals calendar

Ok bloody hell this is INSANE from the Irish rider. Sitting right back in the saddle, long reins, random tight corners - “I don’t really know how to describe his technique,” says the commentator diplomatically, “but it works.”
December 18, 2025 at 9:44 PM
This British chap Oliver Fletcher has just cleared 6’6 on his brother’s horse. That is as tall as my grandpa. (My brother will not be represented here as he is “only” an inch or two taller than that, but it is still tall enough to not be allowed on rollercoasters.)
December 18, 2025 at 9:41 PM
Slight disaster for this one. I love the commentators’ extremely understatement with horses: “bit unruly there” as a horse motors in like a steam liner. “Not as neat as it could be” as one goes full Thelwell in the approach. (They do also clear them, which is like watching a plane take flight.)

I will be attending with my friend Will, who has been with me through all the most stressful Ambridge storylines (eg the Jude and "Fizz" romance of 2010, when we were on holiday in Spain and had to drive to get enough signal to howl loudly at how awful they both were).

You will sadly never again be able to see my performance as “Doppelganger” but that is probably also for the best.
