Day 329: "About three things I was absolutely positive. First, the Elephant Bird was extinct. Second, there was a part of it-and I didn’t know how prevalent that part might be-that might resemble a large pachyderm. And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with it." 🐀✨

Day 328: Creepy dudes gonna be creepy

Daily Comic #327: Just some little messes
Single-panel comic taking up a whole vertically-shaped page. The panel depicts a messy living space with a round table in the foreground, holding a steaming mug of coffee (some of which has spilled around the coaster it's resting on), a lonely pencil, a hardcover book with a bookmark sticking out, a crumpled receipt and some wayward papers behind the coffee mug. Just behind the table is an upright piano with sheet music on the stand, a post-it note stuck to the paper and an afghan rug falling over the top edge. Above the piano is a plant hanging in the window, and next to the window is a tall bookshelf packed with books and jewel CD cases, with a picture frame and half-burned up candle resting on top. Day 326: This one was pretty close!

Day 325: Hilarious little creature, the jerboa

Day 324: Oh! Interesting!

(Note: this isn’t actually a good representation of either of my grandmas — my skills of passive aggression are the product of at least a dozen different white midwesterners)

Day 323: I did it. I redeemed myself after the water moccasin fiasco

I'm working strictly on vibes. And the oryx has 'high fantasy' vibes... Drawn with no idea:" Below that caption, in panel 1, is a drawing of what resembles a thick-limbed ram with long rabbit ears that go backward away from the animal's head, and ram-like horns that curve down toward the face and end in soft waves. It has thick, furry feet like a clydesdale horse, and cursive captions around the drawing say "Just a big, stocky sorta guy? (thick) cool ears? fancy horns. Beautiful goat face." Day 322: "Welt! Die-sen-nuts" (high five)

Daily comic 321: lol dumb

hah, that makes total sense! to be fair, the only snake I ever encountered growing up in MN (still to this day) was the garter snake. just a lil guy. gave me a false sense of security about snakes overall.

Day 320: It didn't turn out to be a bird.. but i'm still mad.

Day 320: It's never a bird when i think it's a bird

(I screwed up on the bottom cursive caption, meant to write "eyeLIDS," as in "I'm unconvinced he has eyeLIDS."

Day 319: Another "Animal Un-familiar." VERY unfamiliar!

Daily comic 318: Margo's harrowing afternoon

The top caption simply says "Yesterday:" In panel 1, my two cats are sitting in their fancy heated cat beds on the window seat. My shorthair cat Egg Noodle is resting his head on the edge of his bed, head empty, and my longhair cat Margo is sitting up and looking out the window as I (a human woman) return from work with my keys in-hand. Margo has scraggly speech bubbles with unnecessary accents over all the vowels (as it her way) that say "the lady returns from her toils. now is Margo's chance." Day 317: Drawing another majestic creature before and after looking up a single reference photo: the mata mata

Day 316: The briefest pause on my "animal un-familiar" comics while I defeat capitalism real quick, brb

Day 315: I swear to god, I've never seen or heard of a quoll before it went on this list. It just sounds like such a small rodent, doesn't it?

Day 314: Having just learned what a musk ox looks like yesterday, I've made some executive decisions on animal classification

The way the musk ox *actually looks* is how I imagined a water buffalo looks.... but here's a picture of a water buffalo, which looks a lot like my drawing of how I *thought* a musk ox would look:

Day 313: Continuing with my mini series of drawing unfamiliar animals until the government stops me!
2-panel comic drawn with sable brush and india ink with inkwash shading. The panels are stacked vertically and equal in size. Panel 1 starts with a caption: "Next animal I know nothing about: the noble Musk Ox. I feel like this will be another ibex situation... Time to draw it with no reference:" Beneath the caption is an ink drawing of what mostly looks like a normal bull, with large horns that go directly out to the sides and curve slightly upward, and big droopy ears that hang below. The face looks like a Holstein cow's face (so cute), and it has standard bull legs (kind of stocky with cloven hooves) and a swishy cow tail. Captions written in cursive surround the drawing: "Does it have some sort of stink sack?" is positioned just above the bull/cow/ox's hump above the shoulders. Another caption says "beautiful cow face", surrounded with little sparkles, and one more caption in the corner just says "Just a real thick boy" Panel 2 starts with the caption "and now WITH reference:" and has a detailed drawing of an actual musk ox.
