Interesting to see this.
Never thought I'd see a Saudi king speaking fluent English, talking about a high tech future.
Why did Islamic militancy mostly die off? Because a whole generation grew up like him, on YouTube, on the internet, learning English, and wanting a better life.

Flu season is here somewhat early. Be careful out there, masks in crowded indoor spaces are a good idea, and get your flu (and Covid) shots asap.

Proud of my city for telling these clowns to get lost.

The Canadian Standards Association (CSA) has released a draft standard requiring masks (like N95s) in health care settings to stop airborne infections.

There is a strong attempt to push back against this, so need your public comments to get this through: publicreview.csa.ca/Home/View/22...

Big day: Canada will recognize a Palestinian state in September at the UN general assembly, contingent on democratic reforms by the Palestinian Authority, exclusion of Hamas, and demilitarization. Promises governance and humanitarian support.

Would be a positive step forward if it actually happens!

It's called Refeeding Syndrome, and I've lost a few patients to it over the years (eating disorders, post gastric-bypass, etc).

You need the the clinical capacity to carefully feed patients, monitor electrolytes, and give vitamins, and this barely exists in Gaza now.

Even if tons of food goes in, a lot of people are still going to die.

Once malnutrition and famine conditions set in, the body adapts to consuming its own muscles and fat.

If you give carbs too quickly, insulin gets secreted, crazy electrolyte shifts happen, and hearts just stop.

Finally realized it. No one is going to save these poor people, and their bones will fertilize the land for those who will only spit on their memory.

For fans of The Expanse, the closest modern equivalent to the Earth/Mars rivalry has got to be India/Pakistan. One is a militarist offshoot of the other, they take potshots at each other, similar culture/language and they respect and also hate each other. What do you think?

Timely paper simulating the climate effects of a nuclear exchange between India and Pakistan. Even though the number of weapons and yields are lower than the US/Soviet scenario, I was surprised to see that the atmospheric soot and ash can still affect food supplies for billions.

Rapid weight loss can exacerbate some chronic pain conditions. Interesting case report from a colleague, especially relevant in the age of Ozempic: casereports.bmj.com/content/18/4...

Show them beaches, castles, palaces and museums. But nothing fascinated them more than this construction site across from the hotel lol.

🇨🇦 looking for alternatives to 🇺🇸 for their vacations should seriously consider southern Europe. Just came back from Portugal. Warm and friendly people, they love kids, good prices, very safe, freshest tastiest food ever, 1st world infrastructure, lots to see.

Historic win at the Oscars. Israelis and Palestinians working together for peace on the documentary 'No Other Land'.

I wasn't on duty yesterday when this happened, but watching our emergency response systems light up and coordinate minutes after this happened was amazing to see. Patients were taken across the city and seen and treated within minutes of arrival. No deaths, thankfully. Bravo!

Firstly, Flu (with a capital F) is not a cold. A cold is a runny nose, mild sore throat and you're fine in a couple of days. Flu (influenza virus) gives you the feeling you've been hit by a truck. High fevers, severe fatigue, body aches, lasting up to 5-7 days.
