Can you add a colour palate ‘a menu of around 10 distinct colours’ (idk what to call it) for the tier list maker? It’s kinda tedious to select a colour by dragging on a scale every time a new tier is made. (This is a thing on TierMaker)

1) Absolutely, not in the sense of education, rather a lack of interaction between skill levels and blocking opportunities based on results.
2) Reintroduce ideas like draft tournaments as mainstream. ‘Force’ the start of interaction between different skill levels and groups.
3) Can’t say for sure

Nvm I just read this but add more if you want.

Ok that I can understand. But that only explains the very top level (+ servers) of Splatoon. Gatekeeping happens lower down the skill ladder as well and spheres in high/mid level aren’t as ‘cramped’ or ‘limited’. So what’s a more underlying motive that applies to all levels of play?

I understand most of your text and the Splatoon community is def different from other esports contexts. But back on topic, what does this have to do with gatekeeping exactly? Like what do you think drives ppl to do this? (Again you can use my examples if needed)

Can you elaborate on what you mean by ‘cultural’ in point 1? I’m very sure that ppl do this intentionally. (You can read my recent thread on the topic if need an example or reference)

So let me ask this question to the players higher up: Do we really not have the time and effort to help people? Or are we just afraid of looking bad ourselves?
I think somewhere down the line, we forgot what it was like to be a new player, and the hardships and struggles it took to improve. (5/5)

All I asked for (as well as many others I presume) was a different practice environment, and most of these requests were denied rather coldly. Just in my honest opinion, there is way too much ‘double standards’ esp when midlevel players complain about this. (4/5)

I am by no means a ‘good’ player, and this community isn’t perfect. But I can firmly say that this gatekeeping ideal is seriously staggering a lot of players’ growth by locking opportunities behind arbitrary standards, and I myself can serve as a decent example. (3/5)

About half a year ago I joined Wing’s midlevel 8s server, and I got to play a decent amount of 8s sets which were really fun and helpful. And on one random day, I got kicked and the reason was, again, lack of results, despite no one really having an issue playing with me during 8s. (2/5)

Tbh just think of the game in every moment as what you should do (fluid priorities) and then what you can do (mechanics) Start simple.

Once this is understood, strong vs weak ‘support’ options can be interpreted, and why k/d cannot represent the value you provide during a game.
“Only a fool pits their biggest weakness against their enemies greatest strength” And that’s how Splatoon gameflow logic works imo. (3/3)

And here’s my interpretation of these weapons’ gameplan:
Most supports should try to avoid risky fights due to the high opportunity cost of their life. When you die, your team loses a valuable special, map control, your key position and the objective. That is just how these weapons work. (2/3)

Priorities, priorities

What do you think is Well’s strongest comp? And wdyt is its biggest counters and hardest matchups? (Both comp styles and weapons)
