if I'm producing animation and I don't like the way a character's hand is tilted, I can change the angle in the modeling software and re-render it, easy peasy. AI can't just make that kind of small change.

there's not a whole hell of a lot you can do with a single AI image. it's the wrong format for a whole host of professional processes. it doesn't create WORKING files.
AI doesn't produce 3d modeled files. it can't create vector files with printers marks. it's practically useless.
