Honestly, part of issue is the branding. AI sounds snappy, and brings to mind other fictional AIs that are actually sentient.
ChatGPT is a language learning model, chatbots are nothing new, etc

But LLM or chatbots etc don't sound as good to marketing as "AI"

Without the block I would be confused about their intent, that's how bizarre interaction is
