Oddly, I found that if I don't hold it this way I slip more often! I used to not brace it, but the pressure from my finger keeps it from slipping. I've only cut myself once out of the 35 or so blocks I've carved so far, so I feel that's not too bad

Aw gosh 💚💚
Happy to share some of the process :)

I recommend it! I had to teach myself as well so I'm sure there's so many things I could be doing differently lol. It's a fun medium though!
December 20, 2025 at 7:13 AM
Ohh ok, I'll take a look!
December 19, 2025 at 8:32 PM
Ah, I don't have that. I'm not entirely sure what it is tbh lol
December 19, 2025 at 7:16 PM
Dang I don't know how to do that stuff lol

The worst part is I can't block the sender because it's a relay from my contact form on my website >_>

Wow I love these so much! I wish this was a style that far more publishers would lean into - and I hope you get to do many more!

Omg at to that all the "did you see my last email?" when it's all the same spam junk about getting eyes on my website or making a blog specifically to feature THEIR product lol.

Yeah smaller pieces tend to have more detail close to the edge (which is why I use borders!). That framing method is called "floating" a print, which is also great for deckled edge prints where it looks like torn edge paper
December 19, 2025 at 4:59 AM
That would work! Just make sure you use archival ink and test the paper that it won't smudge. I still recommend signing the front though so if it gets framed your name is still visible. The stamp is still great for info, website , date, title, etc

You're very welcome! I'm glad you found it helpful. :D

You can get fancy with your info sheets and include more print specific stuff like the medium used, a short bio on yourself, if you made a story or poem to go with it etc.

The easier you make it for others to find you again and tell other people about you the better. Especially years later!

Info sheets: Make simple info sheets on printer paper - they could even be the size of business cards if you want, mine are 5x7 but I might shrink them. Include at least your website, that the print is open edition, maybe the print title, and most importantly the copyright info! Here's an example

Where to sign: It doesn't have to be in the corner but that's usually just the best place. I suggest going in 1/2-1 full inch on big prints. If you have prints with borders then you might opt to sign just under the border or just within that border. Put the signature wherever it makes the most sense

What to sign a print with - if the print is on uncoated paper, you can simply use a pencil. This is also how you would sign a limited edition print but open editions can definitely be signed with pencil too!

What to sign a print with: NOT A SHARPIE. Those are not as permanent as you might think. Use an art ink pen, like a Faber Castell Pitt artist pen which is waterproof and lightfast.

Sakura PenTouch metallic pens are great for smooth surfaces and a fancy touch - they come in gold, silver, and copper.

Seconding to start with Even In Arcadia (one of my top favorite albums ever), and Take Me Back to Eden. They both feel different so you may just like one more than the other.

Right, I remember that! It must have been the same storm, power outages too if I recall. I want to say I hope it never happens but the weather we're having now makes me think it could definitely happen again D:

I feel this so much! I took a 'break' but I still have a painting and print for Patreon I need to do. Feeling like I haven't really let myself make something that wasn't already for another purpose for so long.

I don't quite remember what year that was that the Seattle area had some really bad ice where it rained and then froze over & snowed. My street was impassable and people had to abandon their cars in front of our house. A bus, too. I purchased ice cleats specifically for another situation like that.
