Disillusioned American. I have always believed in the inherent good of people but the veil has been lifted from my eyes. So no, I won't be tolerant of people who didn't find racism, sexual assault, fraud and pathological lying disqualifying.

I take exception with the way she discredits her opponents efforts when she is self-deprecating. There’s no doubting her skill on the court - I just personally don’t care for her antics. But we all have opinions, right? It was a fun match to watch.

Very classless speech from Sabalenka but I’ve come to expect that from her when she loses. She’s easy to root against because of her sportsmanship. Or rather, lack of it.

They are not new, for sure. I didn't mean to imply that there weren't awful people doing awful things in the name of bigotry. It just doesn't seem like there were so many people openly proud of it until Trump.

Absolutely horrific. This is what Trump has brought to the forefront. He makes it okay for people to act on their unfounded hatred of anything that isn't exactly like them. Of course it was here before Trump but we were making progress. He's like the light that makes the cockroaches scatter.

We really need to have a conversation as a country about how so many Americans are ok with other people being hurt as long as they think it won't touch them personally. You're right - voters knew exactly who he was and they voted for him anyway. It's a damning indictment of us as a people.
