Why in the UK is it taboo for even the left to say that brexit was a fucking unacceptable tragedy???

I moved out of the country after the second Trump win to give my kids a second home base.

That's because it's really a dog.

It would need to be a govt bank, though. No profit motive whatsoever. The PO necessarily has brick and mortar across the country to service these accounts. No other entity would be ready to deliver this service.

Look to the US and you will see that if the environment calls for business to be evil, business will oblige. I live in the UK today because maga took over the US. Big business from finance to energy to media all made the maga takeover possible, and their corruption will keep maga in place.
November 16, 2025 at 9:37 PM
I would say that the banking system in the US is quite robust. But there needs to be a stripped down bank acct product that cannot overdraft, that is provided to every social ss/tax id number, that can only be drafted by registered entities, and serves as the repository of all govt to citizen pmts.
November 16, 2025 at 9:30 PM
There are people like elon musk and Peter theil in our world. How do you feel when it is these sorts who chair the private entities which deliver essential services in our society? As i become older, and the world changes, and shame ceases to deter, I become less and less a free market capitalist.

In the US, the post office is a piece of the federal government that touches people in a positive way. The British government would do well for the people to feel the same about the royal mail. The US post office also used to provide bank accounts. They should do that again. As should the royal mail
November 16, 2025 at 9:14 PM
I believe that there are benefits and even needs not yet realized from a network that necessarily physically fully saturates every inch of country and treads it every day. It's like looking to the military for a profit. The royal mail has national security value in contexts not yet realized.
November 16, 2025 at 9:11 PM
If the royal mail is indeed a cash sink, then how is it operating as a private entity? In any case, my position is that a govt entity, which necessarily has a daily-traveled physical presence in every square mile of the country, is of potential extreme value in any number of possible contingencies.

The reason for the nationalization of all mass transit is that the whole human economy benefits when government subsidies the movement of people. This is true for providing energy, water, etc. Privatization is not required to add competition into these systems. National competition is sufficient.
November 16, 2025 at 4:30 PM
As long as citizens are biological physical beings, the royal mail has unique potential future capacities and capabilities which cannot be currently properly assessed.
November 16, 2025 at 4:26 PM
If the tube is a success then the profits should be going to the government. Yes, it is the monopolies which should be nationalized. We agree on water. The lines that bring the power are a monopoly. The tracks that bring the trains are a monopoly. The royal mail is a monopoly.

I gather from many "vegetarian menus" in England, that vegetarianism in England somehow includes eating fish and eggs. That suits me perfectly. I'd have the haddock. But I do fully support having more legit vegetarian options. The world would be that much a better place.

Why isn't there a British ticket partner??
November 16, 2025 at 1:01 PM
The councils are locally deciding to sell their stuff. We need national money and national legislation to renationalise all national and local services. Energy, water, mass transit, rail, the royal mail, keep the NHS of course, leisure centers, etc. It would even get some reform voters on-board.
November 16, 2025 at 11:55 AM
We need a renationalisation party. We could call it the renationalisation party.
