Copy paste my thoughts on Planet Waves, and add that the Band collaborates more on their own songs with this, a lo-fi nature that adds a warmth to the roots, and you get a perfectly serviceable 24 track album.

Heavy on lyrical emotional topic but very light hearted in instrumentation for some songs. I don't think I get why people love it as much as they did, but it is a return to a form that Dylan had on Highway 61 and Blonde on Blonde.

Reaaaaaally well made album. Completely amazing in performance with The Band's collaboration and Bob Dylan continuing the trend of having a better voice for country/roots Americana than I expected.

An album that doesn't seem to be made to exist due to the label dropping one without Dylan's awareness makes this album seem kinda weird because the songs on there are legit pretty good. The lo-fi nature even adds a feeling that just feels warm to hear.

Perfectly serviceable western soundtrack album which has Knockin' on Heaven's Door as a song to make of note on this album. I'm not knocking it down, the use of it in the movie is pretty great compared to the Guns N' Roses song I heard million times.

The most notable thing I can say about this is that some songs have this soulful vibe that I have never heard Bob Dylan ever perform before and I wish he could do it more since he's pretty decent at it. It's probably the most optimistic release I've heard

This one... yeah this is a dense and troubling mess.
I think it still has specialty though for being a beautifully made mess.
He still knows how to add something to a cover or arrangement so I think it's an album that I'd just consider pretty mixed in my feelings

Why do people think negatively of this, let the man be a country boye.
Plus I uhh really like his country crooner style, the lyrics do get really dumbed down, but his vocals and guitar playing are so cleaaaannn. aghhhh

I'm kinda liking the mix of Bob Dylan at his most simplest while also keeping up to pace with his creativity for stories, and this album has that for me.

Also a classic to many fans of his work, and I can sense why.
The songs feel slightly less repetitive and the instruments sound like they're part of the atmosphere of the worlds he creates with his songs. I like it, but I feel like I'd appreciate it more if I'd sit with it longer.

It's my 3rd relisten of this record and the more I simmer in this, the more I enjoy it. There isn't alot other than a louder, urgent sound and Dylan doesn't like to cut short. Letting the listener linger in the stories longer and it never really feels that long actually.

How dare he go electric (/s)
The new sound lends a new possibility of a more busy and lively way of telling the story and it works well with the new angle of writing Bob's going for. Where his iconic absurd and cryptic usage of words become center stage.

I respect it. Taking a backseat from serious sociopolitical statements to write relatively lighthearted and personal songs this time. It's not something I'd come back to too much, but I can respect it for its placement in Dylan's life.
