500.)Ghost in the Shell (1995) [REWATCH]

The themes of technology and transhumanism being the tools of enslavement in the service of corporate and political interests and that all you own is your "self" really hit on this rewatch for some reason.

499.) Yes - Relayer

Yes really are the masters of the 20-minute long bangers.

498.) E.T. (1982)

Never seen this movie outside of a vague recollection of a few scenes watched as a 4-year old. So I didn't have any real childhood attachment to this film. Even with that and the "killed him with hammer" post on mind, this beautifully-shot movie got me choked up.

497.) Boris - Pink

Metal unbound by the limits of speed and intensity. Shoegaze metal that packs a wallop!

496.) Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009) [REWATCH]

The perfect movie to round out Thanksgiving.

Digital Devil Story: The First Megami Tensei Anime | KYOTO VIDEO

In 1987, a popular novel trilogy gave birth to two adaptations. One, the foundation for one of the most influential RPG franchises ever. The other, an OVA. Guess which one we're talking about.

495.) Main Source - Breaking Atoms

The sneak preview to Illmatic. Not just in how the laid-back jazz boombap hides some real hardcore rhymes about police brutality and fighting, but also because Nas literally makes his debut on this record as a feature at the tender of 16.

494.) Pixies - Bossanova

This album is the real oceangrunge.
November 26, 2025 at 3:58 PM
493.) The Rippingtons - Kilimanjaro

While I like Tourist in Paradise and Welcome to the St. James Club more, this is still the kind of professional craftsmanship I've come to expect from smooth jazz of this ilk.

492.) Casino (1995)

I'm genuinely torn if I like this movie or Goodfellas more. Goodfellas is a tighter experience but Casino has so many of my favorite Scorsese-directed scenes in it. Genuinely tough choice.

491.) Erykah Badu - Baduizm

Sweet and soulful. You are destined to get completely lost in a groove listening to this album.

My grandfather gave me $100 for fixing his computer so I put that money to good use.

490.) Disney's Living Characters: A Broken Promise (2025)

An incredibly detailed dive into the history of Disney's attempt to create responsive "living characters" and how they mostly exist to serve a cynical endgoal. Especially nowadays.

489.) System of a Down - Hypnotize

Certainly not as strong as Mesmerize (I do not like "Lonely Day'), but still has its moments that makes it a worthwhile listen.

488.) Dokken - Under Lock and Key

Awesomely cheesy hair metal. It fucking rules.

I think the last time I had that feeling was seeing Kecleon in the anime a year before Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire was released.

Time to go Leon Kennedy on some dweebs

487.) Toy Story (1995) [REWATCH]

Re-watched for the 30th anniversary. A nice tight story and CGI animation that has aged gracefully than you would expect. But I really was surprised at how punchy the script was. I don't the Pixar of today could get away with making as "ass-kisser" joke like here.

486.) Queen - A Night at the Opera

Happy 50th to a wonderous record of theatrical arena rock. Even after all these years of overplay, "Bohemian Rhapsody" still manages to go hard!
November 21, 2025 at 10:26 PM
485.) LCD Soundsystem - Sound of Silver

An album that really puts me back in highschool. Like I'm pretty sure I heard most of this record while browing for anime DVDs at the local FYE.

What perfect album came out the year you turned 16?

The monument to a legendary producer made by the producer himself on his deathbed. You get the whole breadth of the legacy he left without a single bar being spoken.

484.) The Tragedy of Macbeth (2021)

A damn good adaptation of the Scottish play with superlative blocking and production that gives the film a nice surrealist medieval feel. Also, really dug Denzel's portrayal of Macbeth as a man who uses his arrogance as a shield for his fear and madness.

483.) Catherine Wheel - Chrome

Pretty good shoegaze record with a grunge tint. Only let down by the fact that it drags in the second half.
