Whom do we want to see in power? People high in both benevolence and integrity - that's what a new paper by Annika Scholl, H Rapp, Gerben van Kleef and myself shows. 4 Studies (N=1151) provide consistent evidence for this interaction effect. Delighted to see this work out doi.org/10.1037/xap0...

Not all conspiracy theories are alike. We use appraisal theories of emotions to describe differences between conspiracy theories and predict their behavioral consequences. We are very grateful for comments by Jan Willem van Prooijen, @marrobert.bsky.social, Sander L. Koole, Kai-Tak Poon, ....

Using AI in HR? In a new paper led by Miriam Gieselmann with @d-erdsiek.bsky.social and Vincent Rost @zew.de we report 3 studies (total N=2025) seeking an answer to the question: For which tasks do managers consider AI? Short answer: more for marketing & finance than in HR. doi.org/10.1016/j.jo...

Across different manipulations, we found that IER predicted sympathy and supportiveness, but this correlation was not moderated by anger-provoking outgroup behavior. Thus, IER did not predict OG treatment due to in situ emotion regulation but as a chronic inclination. 3/3

In 4 experiments (N=984) we manipulated outgroup behavior and measured chronic integrative emotion regulation (IER) to test whether IER predicts sympathy and support for suffering outgroup members due to in situ emotion regulation or as a stable tendency. (2/n)
