I have a small classroom, so I think this setup allows students to make “good choices” about who they work near. Also it is easier to move tables for collaboration or individual work. There is still a small area where I can work with a small group.

Yes, I do. I just rearranged my room when we all returned from break. I feel like this setup has been the best this school year.

Build a classroom community first. Kagan cooperative group structures are good. Depending on the activity- give small group 1 paper, 1 pencil and students take turns contributing. Just a thought…
