I grew up in the area and have never seen the ice caves. I WANT to see them, but not in open water. It’s just too dangerous. Better to go after the area has a nice layer of ice — which provides its own accessibility issues and makes a trip harder to plan but is much safer.

When I lived in Ottawa, my car said it was -26F one morning; it was probably colder some other day, but I usually rode the bus to work — so that’s just the coldest I can affirm. It was awful waiting at the bus transfer station in that kind of weather.

When I got pink eye, I needed this stuff like Vaseline on the rims of my eyes and to blink a bunch of times to spread it around my eyeballs — because I’m allergic to the preservative in drops 😬
