I kind of expect critical thinking to be part of a basic law education. The prospect that the highest legal authority in the nation is susceptible to Internet brain rot blows my mind. This indicates a much larger social problem.

Mass media had a small number of networks playing to a broad middle. Social media gives hyper personalized feeds, which are great, but the “For Everyone” feed could be just one click next door on the same platform. Everyone could compare and contrast the feeds for themselves.

I don’t know if we need a law but we do need the option of a content stream that is the same for everyone.

Hyper-personalization is open for exploitation. If every platform had a “For Everyone” stream that sat next to the personal stream, maybe trolls that exploit bubbles would be more obvious.

So like some people need more healthcare than others and a few people need a lot of very expensive healthcare. At least we won’t need to worry about that problem.

Outrage fatigue is a thing and I believe part of the strategy. When there’s some new random crazy shit every single day you forget yesterday let alone last week or last month.

Remember in the video game Civilization you could just decide what your palace looked like? Maybe it’s like that.
