Yea the more that I look at it, there was very very little people that drew like that before AI, it seems to be a hybrid process, I do not believe they did not used generative AI heavily

The line thickenes, the shading style, the highlights, the artstyle, it doesn’t seem generated, but used as a base to trace :/ but this is just my opinion
