I'm sure there are good gatchas (a friend loves Limbus Company and it seems interesting) but the model around collectibles of the characters in different modes, situations, etc. still echoes that stan culture around characters that I hate

I guess it works if it's so profitable, but for me its thrown me into the "narrative/themes (expressed through characters) first" because that's what makes the characters have meaning & impact that we love them (oc many works that are not that are good, but the gatcha model is the worst version imo)
