In Buddhism, we learn interdependence--our lives are bound together, and harm to one is harm to all.

For centrists worried about “going too far,” this is the time to step left in solidarity, to build a greater movement that lifts up the poor AND continues to build upon recent rights struggles.

Absolutely wonderful news.

In April 2025, the world produced more electricity with solar power than with nuclear for the first time ever. And if my understanding is correct, May, June, and July will see even BIGGER numbers and August, September, and probably October will be pretty awesome too.

It's a packed house at the Adams Center today for Bernie Sanders and AOC in Missoula, Montana! Overflow is being sent to the stadium I'm told.

Happy "Bernie Sanders and AOC are coming to town today" to all who celebrate 🎆🥂

Facts still matter. Our dear leader is living in his own la-la land and it is important for us to continue to live in reality and hopefully pull some of his followers out of la-la land along the way.

Americans support progressive policies.

When our politicians (often including Dems) don't, it's a sign that we need . . .

A major societal driver of this kind of stupidity is in-group / out-group dynamics--the belief that "we" are better or smarter or otherwise superior to "them" based on any identity marker.

It's an incredibly seductive cycle to get in though, especially when so many around us are taking part.

Some of my greatest "insights" from meditation have been eerily similar ;)

Our country is now governed by Moscow and wealth and Republicans are cheering in hopes of getting a lifeboat spot as it all sinks.

Trump is very clearly a Putin surrogate. Tell your congresspeople. Tell the world. We stand with Ukraine.

So close!

Soon we'll switch our gas water heater for a heat pump. Later in the spring we'll be rid of our 1988 gas furnace in favor of a central heat pump as well.

Then we'll be free of any/all fossil fuel consumption in the house! More solar panels asap for fully green energy :)

So Trump and Musk ran as "free speech warriors" countering leftist censorship and almost immediately put out a LIST OF WORDS YOU CANNOT SAY in certain government organizations.

Let that sink in for one minute. Let it sink in and realize how deeply the American public has been lied to.

If only we ever had a Dem president and congress who might have looked into this. Ever. Ever?

"Missoula Resists" - a new grassroots gathering of local folks concerned with the hate and harm brought by the current administration. I joined virtually and hope to contribute/take part more in the weeks ahead.

Hope to see more of you #Missoula area folks there too.

I quite recommend at least a little "relentless immersion in the here and now" (i.e. meditation) on a daily basis if you can.

Screentime is okay, but wow, it's easy and tempting to doom scroll and anger-post right now.

Deep breaths. Organize. Overcome.

There's a LOT to love about #academia (students, research, colleagues), but the system is so strained these days and adjuncts, new profs, and grad students often take the brunt of each new austerity measure.
