But their deployment in integrated systems isn’t straightforward. A lot of that public-facing work was halted (or at least ceased to be published) for various reasons (good and bad). So we get a lot of people and orgs with the wrong incentives touting unreplicatable numbers.

What my lab found really challenging about doing this is the “system” part. The models themselves (esp ArcFace, MagFace, SphereFace etc) have certainly undergone architectural improvements over time and in lab settings there is some data to back up that improvement.

I really enjoyed it, but I think they did one twist too many in Act III. I did not like the heavy-handed judgment of my choices in the endgame either.
