It's happening! At the intermission right now. So damn good.

I genuinely forgot that game existed until I saw this.

Two-spirit. I've only heard it in a Canadian context before. It's a First Nations' term.

I still haven't seen the classic Midway, but I can believe it.

It's been good for them, BUT all of them have Ryzen 9800X3Ds. That's the fastest gaming CPU you can currently buy. :/ One of them does have a 60 hour game in it so far without any significant slowdown. That says something at least, even with a CPU that strong.

My gaming friend group have been playing it for dozens of hours, and they've all been very critical of Paradox games in the past. It's apparently quite deep and feature complete out-of-the-box, which is not typical for Paradox. I can't comment myself as I don't play EU.

At least the trend with WARNO is going to obscure stuff now that the obvious things are in the game. I really hope they re-add East Asia eventually. They hinted at a new theatre in a recent dev blog. My guess is Scandinavia again to redo ALB.

The fundamental hurdle Eugen faces is their player base is overwhelmingly Eurocentric war tech nerds who'd riot if they didn't have all their preferred nation's best stuff in the game right away. I still remember the backlash to Red Dragon daring to not be euro-focused initially. Then it pivoted.

The mod was really good. I doubt I can ever go back to vanilla Halo CE now. Only a couple of crashes on a co-op run.

The biggest thing with the mod for me is the added environmental storytelling. Like this scene of sentinels burning Flood bodies in The Library. The addition of more competent and present friendly forces adds much to the feeling that you're part of a broader effort.

I use "NHK news reels" as shorthand for where one can find them archived online, but I honestly don't know much about their original origin. I believe you're correct that they were produced by Nihon Eigasha.

"The enemy's invasion, relying on sheer numbers, is rapidly becoming more intense with each passing day."

I wish I'd kept a tally on the number of times NHK news reels mention a setback/defeat and characterize it solely as a result of American zerglings.

They're really keen on features about Imphal-Kohima until they suddenly aren't.
November 7, 2025 at 2:27 PM
They received them from the British, yes, under a promise from Churchill after some lobbying. Three squadrons from Europe were sent to fly them, two RAAF and one RAF. They were Spitfire Mk VCs if memory serves.

Australian spitfires matched up against Japanese zeros, implying the Darwin air campaign, is a surprisingly interesting choice for the bit.
