I actually loved pre-recorded talks in Covid times. It’s when I really had a lot of fun with “talks”

I haven’t made slides for a talk for almost 10 years unless someone told me I had to

I much prefer live demos and whiteboards but I understand not everyone is comfortable with that

How much would it cost to sponsor @fafo.fm in the newsletter?

No particular agenda for the ad, but I try hard to have diverse guests and being in your newsletter would help me reach more awesome people to interview

I’d also recommend playing! I started roller hockey 2 years ago and it’s a blast even though I’m not very good

TV doesn’t do it justice for how fast and big the players are

An industry built on the currency of attention was bound to make bad decisions

They know DMs is where real conversations happen and now it’s a race to monetize

Comments are engagement cat nip

Platforms have become what they reward

I’m partially responsible for 3 dev focused newsletters and anecdotally id say at least 30% are newsletter specific email addresses
November 30, 2025 at 12:41 AM
Myself, and I’m sure a lot of devs, use a different email address for mailing lists than what is connected to GitHub or other sso sources

I've been ripping disks for over 20 years, but I want something non-technical people can buy and rip what they have without managing files or storage
November 29, 2025 at 6:55 PM
I have plenty of drives I'm using to rip movies. But I want this to be easier for people

People are paying way too much for subscriptions for content they already own because it's convenient

An appliance should exist to make it convenient to consume the content you already own

It’s a new system so there has been some things to fix. Pretty sure I saw your workshop submission

I’m trying to come up with a new design for the new season but we’ve had this design for a couple years. It’s roller hockey beer league
November 29, 2025 at 3:58 PM
I finished it last night. I don't dare talk about it for at least a week online and even then I would give warnings if I'm going to spoil something

I play on a "Stranger Things" hockey team and we have a game Tuesday. I know there would be spoilers in-person so I wanted to make sure I was caught up
