"A magical constellation of wishes and dreams." ™® The wisdom of our ancestors is in the simile.
I've read Tom Sawyer (excerpts at school, whole book on my own) but not yet Huckleberry Finn.

We weren't assigned to read To Kill a Mockingbird, but we did watch the movie at school. I don't think that's the same, but we were exposed to the story. (I think integrating movies in class is best for works meant to be performed and next-best for comparing and contrasting.)

@foxxnolte.bsky.social did such an amazing job digging into THOSE sorts of questions as they pertained to Haunted Mansion, and I knew a similar approach to Pirates would be a fantastic read. I was right. #WEDReads

This was the section that most intrigued me. "What about (topic) has captivated so many people for so long? What was the spark that made (topic) ripe for an interpretation through the lens of Disney creatives? Where are the roots in the old, factual and fantastic? What's new?" #WEDReads

She's beautiful. I love the detail you put into her jewelry. Those wheat and crocus earrings are lovely. I love the drape of her cape too.

I was a napping baby when Mike Schmidt hit his career 500th home run, and my dad cheered so loudly at the TV broadcast that I woke up crying. This is one of my favorite bits of family lore.

I STILL haven't been on a shinkansen, but I deeply feel this from my experience on the Taiwan HSR

FWIW, I'd want to know if I were her. It'd certainly not be a fun conversation, but even if I eat crow, maybe I need the reminder not to publicly assume the worst. It'd be more fruitful as a wake-up call to an area that needs work than as a source of silent stewing.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I don't really know what to say except that this situation sounds so unfair and so awful for a mob of strangers to presume the worst over one post about Christmas gifts.

They did appreciate when they had "fuel" on a spelling test, the sentence I gave them was, "When the students did factor trees in math, the number 42 gave them fuel for their laughter." Watching the lightbulbs go on was fun, and they didn't derail the lesson.

I have started using the silly voice and hand gesture every time I ask my students to open to a certain page. It hasn't eliminated the issue, but there is a noticeable decline now that, "oh, my teacher is trying too hard to be cool."
