I remember my first time playing Cave Story, I thought the start was adorable, and by the end Bohemian Rhapsody was blaring in my head from just how good the whole thing was.

Once you beat the game Nier Automata would let you buy almost any achievement from the shop with in game currency and by that point it's way less of a grind for most and I loved that

Sonic Chronicles also eventually lead to the Archie Sonic comic being cancelled, with the game ironically being made as a love letter to it.
It used ideas surrounding Echidna lore from the comics that Ken Penders claimed were his own and later sued over once he got wind of it years later
