But if you look at the number coming by lorry they were much smaller than the boats now. Around 9,000 per year instead of 40,000. Why take a dangerous sea journey to be sent back.

Farage promoted Brexit for years as UKIP and the Brexit Party. Brexit created the small boats when UK left the EU and the Dublin Agreement. The Dublin Agreement ensured anyone arriving irregularly could be returned to the first safe country and was a deterrent. Farage created the boats.

EDF in France is fully state owned. The French government bought the remaining privatised shares in 2023. England should do the same. Privatisation has failed.

To sell privatisation to the public people were told privatisation would enable investment into the crumbling infrastructure. 40 years on and here we are. The public are being asked to pay to improve the infrastructure despite already paying the highest bills in the developed world.
