La BD “French Theory: itinéraires d’une pensée rebelle” est vraiment géniale, & est bien plus qu’une simple adaptation de l’essai original. Plutôt une lecture située contemporaine, sur fond de backlash “anti-woke”. À lire absolument!
Thanks @foucault-news.bsky.social & @stuartelden.bsky.social !

My (2007) review of Cusset’s book “French Theory: Foucault, Derrida, Deleuze et Cie et les mutations de la vie…” is available here if anyone is interested in reading it alongside the excellent comic based on the book that has just come out (I’m reading it now!) www.researchgate.net/publication/...

Putting in a word for my fellow geographer @realjdittmer.bsky.social here, and his PhD-turned-book on geopolitics and Captain America!
(Jason, I know you no longer really write about comics, but nobody forgets their first love, & I'm sure we can bring you back into the geography / comics team!)

You might enjoy @rachelparris.bsky.social 's new book "Introducing Mrs Collins" that kept me v happy over the weekend. It does a great job of adding depth, historical context, & believable plot development of a minor Austen character. The real treat is the audiobook read beautifully by the author.

Well it turns out that it’s just as hard to paint auroras as it is to actually see them! But here is my offering, a few days late, to all those lovely images of aurora borealis.

We always open a pandoro, with white powdered sugar shaken over it, when the first snow hits the mountain close to our home. It's an excellent excuse to eat (more) cake! But, so far, this year's one is still waiting to be opened, in the cupboard...

We might like Bluesky because there is no evil algorithm BUT unlike over on Mastodon where it is part of the culture, folks here often don’t think to boost posts they like. Remember that if there is no algorithm, then we all benefit from others sharing good stuff. Like & REPOST good stuff, people!

Hurray it’s Sunday and I can knit socks. Now I just need to learn how to spin cat wool and I will have zero kilometre warm toes…

I just listened to an excellent presentation on comics & infrastructure by Dr Giada Peterle, part of online talks organised by @drdomdavies.bsky.social within @ttinfranetwork.bsky.social. Such a creative, inspiring & generous scholar! (Her drawings on my book from gh.copernicus.org/articles/80/...)

Belle balade géographique entre grands chantiers d’une Genève en construction, et calme le long des percées vertes et bleues, avant d’être rattrapée par la pluie.

Walking the paths of heroes: remembering a group of Black American soldiers sent so young into battle in WW2, & who behaved with extraordinary valour in the face of Nazi fire, in Sommocolonia 🇮🇹.
Looking back to a time when it was clear that citizens of the United States fought against fascism. #WW2

A lovely visual essay by @theoatmeal.bsky.social on why AI art feels so horribly soulless. Do read it all!
