Our two dogs have two identical toys but they only fight over one of them. If I remove the coveted toy, neither dog even looks at the remaining toy.

But then my brain, which apparently does not always have my best interests at heart, decided that I needed to keep writing because it didn't know what to do with all the empty space. And my characters from book #1 won't leave me in peace, so I'm working on book #2 & have book #3 outlined. Sigh. 2/2

I feel your pain. It's so disheartening. I recently entertained the idea of giving up on writing fiction. For 30 years, I was a successful freelance/ghostwriter, and then my brain convinced me to write a novel, which was a blast, but climbing the marketing hill slayed my love of writing. 1/2
