Meandering through the grounds of Kenwood House and came across a lovely lightshow (and the odd installation) based on Peter Pan/Neverland.

This is what I have to do to help mobile users discover horizontal scrolling in code blocks. A scrollbar at the top would solve this instantly, but browsers don't support it (only waaaaay down at the bottom). Why is this still not a thing? Have I missed something?

MSNBC’s new ‘MS Now’ logo is visually jarring. The red and that neon-leaning blue just don’t sit well together. Maybe it’s brand heritage, but that blue has become a tech/screen shorthand. Try printing it in CMYK and see how shouty it looks then.

I love it when cafes make an effort to inject local flavour and a quick history lesson into their decor with creativity. #cafeculture #stroud #illustration

I love the art style of this game. Brings back all those fond memories of playing those geeky role playing games back in the 80s.

Adobe, a company that sells creativity and AI, can’t seem to brand its own thumbnails.

You’d think they’d have a button for that by now.

When brands are born on screen, colour lives in light, not ink.
So the moment it hits paper, everything changes.
That sector colour you meant as a sub-colour can end up looking like your brand in print.
That’s the screenification of branding.

To tell clients you use AI in some way, or not? That is the question.

We’re nearing 2026. Watch out for those “Design trends of the year” posts.

Trends are fine for inspiration. They are fleetingly diverting but ephemeral.

Don’t mistake them for strategy.

I love this phrase. So true. I really need to frame it or embroider it and hang it in my office.

Mention using AI and you’d think I’d unleashed a killer robot on the world… Thing is, I’ve found it’s more a sounding board and gentle coach than a replacement, especially when you work solo. It compounds what I already have, doesn’t replace it and makes mistakes. Like me :-)

I added some CSS guidance to a client’s styleguide (don’t see that very often) so they don’t need me to jump into Photoshop every time an image needs their brand treatment. One line of ‘blendmode’ does the heavy lifting. Demo: julianknott.com/blendmode.html

100ft underground I explored a sculpture exhibition featuring Damien Hirst and Lynn Chadwick. Set in the surreal environment of Clearwell Caves, the old mining equipment felt like sculptures in their own right alongside the art. #ForestOfDean #ClearwellCaves #Sculpture
