Has to be that. This is nowhere near the worst episode story wise. The Winchester insights we get are invaluable. Production wise, I’m sure Jensen would put it next to the “marionette” Lucifer fight. 😅

As we saw in Lebanon, he loved his boys dearly and deeply. He didn’t always do the “right” thing, but he had good intentions and gave his life for them (twice). He wasn’t perfect, but no parent ever is. 3/3

2. Was John a perfect dad? No. BUT, we cannot judge John by our moral yardstick (by what we would do as parents) because we never walked in his shoes. Our spouse didn’t burn on the ceiling and our child wasn’t in danger from demons. He did do the best he could as traumatized as he was. 2/3

1. When Dean wants to go back to “how things were” he remembers how they were before mom died. He craves that normalcy. In contrast Sam’s “normal” was always colored by the tragedy that followed. Of course he doesn’t have the same sense of nostalgia as Dean does. 1/3
