I've started playing Divine Divinity from 2002. DD is a Diagonal 2D game from the old mold. You sometimes run into enemies that are way too strong, but the fun part is how to circumvent or overcome those issues... and at some point, suddenly these types of enemies don't feel es tough to you anymore.

I just finished Dead Rising.

Fun game. Normally I would maybe like to have the audio in Japanese, but with the setting of this English is appropriate and I don't think you can even set it to Japanese Voices.

Started playing normally but after a few cases I employed the Watchdog trainer.

LOL, was playing Dead Rising (the original but possibly with fan-upscaling) and in a cut scene suddenly a door opens and on the door I can read semi-legibly "Verboden voor Onbevoegden" which is basically the Dutch version of "RESTRICTED ACCESS - no access for unauthorised persons".

So after playing Rise of the Tomb Raider and Game of Thrones Telltale, I was looking at what I'd like to play next. I was looking at a more modern/urban setting and settled on Dead Rising. But they all have zombies; Dead Rising zombies obviously, but the Wights of GOT and Deathless Ones of RotTR.

I just finished playing Game of Thrones - A Telltale Game Series.

I had fun with it but I was also frustrated.

Apart from the issue that you can't really get the game anymore, it started with some tech issues in that I couldn't select a 4K resolution.

I think we can see 8k with our eyes... this discussion reminds me of the mid 2000s when some people were claiming the human eye couldn't notice more than 30 frames per second and that was clearly untrue.

A better reason is that there really is not that much content in even 4k.

A few days ago I finished playing Rise of the Tomb Raider.

I had a great time with the game. It's not a full open world but it has an interconnected world that's either gameplay blocked or hard blocked for story reasons. In this way it feels like a Metroidvania. You need certain tools to progress.

Just finished the demo for Styx: Blades of Greed.

I had fun with it so I wishlisted it. But with this one as well, it will also be quite a time before I actually get the game because I'm planning to play the previous games first (which I already own but haven't touched yet).
Pre-purchase Styx: Blades of Greed on Steam

Why are 1970s sci-fi writers so obsessed with lights called glowglobes (Dune and Hyperion)?

Finished the demo for DRAGON QUEST VII Reimagined.

I completed the demo areas in 2.5 hours and had fun. At this point there is a certain fear it might be a bit formulaïc; are the next four areas going to be the same; ie collect stuff and unlock the next area or are there going to be some nice story

The PC games in my youth were actually pretty wordy. I'm thinking of Adventure games, Civilization II and Morrowind. English is my second language (third is maybe more accurate) but with the latter two I ran into the issue that I learned to spell certain words but never really learned the

Just finished playing Dreamfall Chapters.

Concluding the story I played in the first two games in the series. They added the Walking Dead consequences thing to this game as well. And like those it works to a certain extend but they can never take it too far because that would introduce to many

Yesterday I finished playing Mass Effect 3 Legendary Edition. I had played the first two close to their release but passed on 3 at the time of release.

I had fun with it even if my standing issues with Bioware games are still the same.

A few days late but here are the 57 games I finished playing in 2025:

Decided to finally play Mass Effect 3 Legendary Edition... and was kind of taken aback by how bad it looked... it turns out it was still on 1080p... I really don't know if 1080p would look good on a 1080p monitor but in this case it didn't look good on my 4K monitor at all.

I just finished playing Borderlands 2.
It's not entirely the type of game I'm into. But with some mods I was able to have an enjoyable content-tourist time. I especially don't care for the loot in these types of games. I don't like the randomized tiered system or the grinding.

ugh... I should not have updated my Nvidia Drivers yesterday.

Using RTX HDR causes a black screen (not a crash, you can still hear the game/menu in the back, the screen is just fully black).
And I basically use RTX HDR in all my games.

Last week I finished playing the last game in the Risen series; Risen 3: Titan Lords

I thought I should finally return to the Piranha Bytes games as sadly they have been shut down since I the last time I played one in 2020. They've basically been shut down in the Embracer disaster.

I just did a bit of research about Reality Pump (makers of Two Worlds and much further back KnightShift). I think Reality Pump is dead (although I have found no official comment), a bunch of developers seem to now be working for Bloober Team SA. And those who aren't are working for other companies,

I just finished playing Gears of War Reloaded.

It took me about 11 hours, first the right side playthrough and then a left side playthrough where I also went after the remaining COG Tags.

I own the original Games for Windows Live version but had never finished it.

Wow this hidden object game looks very cursed:

I am wondering what Xbox-related thing I was playing in 2016?

2008-2011 I was playing quite a few Games for Windows Live games. in 2021 and 2022 I was playing some Windows Xbox App store games. And I got an Xbox 360 for the first time in 2024. But I'm a bit stumped by the blip in 2016.

Just finished playing Amercan McGee's Alice.

I content-touristed myself through this one. I used a compilation mod to update it a bit: www.nexusmods.com/americanmcge...

I had fun, an interesting way to use the idTech 3 engine for a platform game and a very different setting.
