This is one thing that it's easy to forget when the psychology replication crisis comes up - there's rarely (I might hazard almost never?) anything as simple as one critical experiment that stands alone as evidence for a theoretical framework, disconnected from other theory on the edges.

And on one hand you get an aggrieved US populace that's upset they're paying more for Drug X than Developing Nation Y, but on the other hand... Yes? We can on average afford to pay more for it than Developing Nation Y because of GDP and should have a better social safety net.

I don't know where the balancing point is, because clinical trials are expensive and like 99% of hits in the drug candidate world fail, but like... Bilking developing nations because of US IP when it's a matter of lives is Bad, Actually.
