When I was an undergraduate I never heard anything about shadowing before applying to medical school.

I always start out of plane in order to make sure I’m over the center of the vessel then switch to in plane once in the vessel so I can better see the depth and make sure it’s where I want it to be.

4 L of IVF is not what I would term “moderate”. One must do a thorough assessment of the patient using hemodynamic parameters (not just BP and HR) as well as assessment for venous congestion and the decide about fluids in an incremental manner. The goal is precision, individualized resuscitation.
