It may not happen, but I think it's increasingly prudent to consider what the consequences of a US civil war would look like, in terms of global politics, war, economics, etc. What would be the impact on Bermuda/the Caribbean/Europe?

Ye see yon birkie ca’d a lord,
Wha struts, an’ stares, an’ a’ that,
Tho’ hundreds worship at his word,
He’s but a coof for a’ that.
For a’ that, an’ a’ that,
His ribband, star, an’ a’ that,
The man o’ independent mind,
He looks an’ laughs at a’ that.

Fascists often go big on performative hyper masculinity but are really scared little boys. Their performativeness is compensatory, & when confronted by healthy masculinity they feel threatened & respond with violence - simply at its presence.

I'm not a US citizen, or in the US. I can't enter even if I wanted to. But the US threatens us all, so of course I'm in solidarity with the people there. I think they need to stop looking to the Dems for leadership. It's time for actual resistance & revolution.

I figure there's a 50% chance of the Trump regime invoking the insurrection act in the next seven days, & a 25% chance of real civil war in the next six months there.

It's been about 25 years since I was last pepper sprayed, braved tear gas, been zip tied or felt the truncheons blow. All it did was radicalise me. And watching it today happening to others has the same effect. Solidarity with the antifascist struggle!

So a regime execution in Minneapolis, an uprising at the Dilley concentration camp, bold faced regime lies & the national guard deploying in Minnesota. A busy day in today's episode of US decline.

I am wondering at what point our Government, maybe in coordination with Caricom & the UK, begins an evacuation of our citizens from the US. It's clearly unsafe.

I said before that every US official that chooses to still represent the US is actively condoning what we're seeing. If nine people break bread with one nazi, it's ten nazis breaking bread.

I reckon the US will find that respect is hard to earn, & quick to be lost.

With the World Cup, I'll only be watching the Scotland games at this rate.

The world we all knew, that we grew up in, is gone. What's left is rapidly dissolving before us. It's okay to mourn it. More importantly, we have to organise & act if we have any hope of making a better world out of the ashes of the old.

Because I felt like punishing myself, I guess, I'm listening to Trump's rambling. How they're not invoking the 25th Amendment is beyond me. This guy is not of sane mind.

I've been quietly studying the Rojava experiment in Syria since it begun, & am concerned by the brutal assault they're now defending against.

Aime Cesaire noted that the shock of Nazi Germany to the European psyche was that they applied to Europe what Europe applied to the colonies. Today the shock is that the US is treating Europe the same as it treats the colonial world.

I feel Trump's deranged letter to Norway was the straw that broke the camels back for a significant number of people who were willing to support him to date. That's welcome I guess, but tgat they were okay up to now is still concerning.

It's interesting seeing how fellow Bermudians are reacting to Trumpism. Some are adamantly opposed. Some are for a politics of appeasement. Some actively desire subjugation.

"I need to be strong and tell the British people where the UK stands."

"Yes, Prime Minster."

"So what about this... Britain is a proud ally of America and whatever President Trump says and does is absolutely fine with me."

"Perfect."

From Mad King George to Mad King Donald, history may not repeat, but it most certainly rhymes.

If Europe capitulates to the US they will face an uprising from their own citizens. That seems quite clear. I've said before, the people will drag them forward, kicking & screaming if need be, & replace them happily too.

While I think we all hope the American people are going to be able to restore democracy, we should plan on the basis that they fail. Even if they succeed, we cannot allow a situation where the US (or any state) can pose such a threat to the world.

Europe is coming out rather united against the US for once. I don't think Trump is used to being told no. I suspect it'll trigger a tantrum. I'll get my popcorn ready.
