*Just-in-case* learning fills your head with noise.
*Just-in-time* learning fills your toolbox with solutions.

(Exceptions: foundational skills if building long-term, eg. IC to manager)

Focus your learning, win your time back.

And we like to keep ourselves busy, rather than make hard decisions with the impact.
The real impact comes from finding he most valuable problems to solve - for the team, and for myself.

Stop clearing your inbox, start questioning what should be in it.

It's easy to get lost in the code, the PRs, the Jira tickets.
Someone, somewhere, is going to click that button. And they're going to feel something.
Make them feel "great" while using your product.
That's our responsibility as leaders, and even as indie builders.

A nurse finishing a 12-hour shift needs to log an event.
An admin needs to onboard a new hire without a headache.

Your code can make their day seamless or frustrating.
You decide.

If you cant make their job easier, at least dont make it harder -> that's the bare minimum.

A cool project with a bad team -> people will leave.
A tough project with a great team -> people will stay.
The difference: daily interactions, trust & psychological safety.
As a manager, your job is protecting the team dynamic.
Everything else is secondary for this matter.

It even got it a project name: "George's Dream" (silly name, but I didnt choice it, "testers" did 🍹)

Now I'm thinking about v2:
Swapping bottled lemon juice (a managed service) for fresh lemons (self-hosting).
It means I have to re-balance the entire system. The ratios are all wrong.

5. End with crystal clear action items + owners. We walked out with action items, but not commitments.

Your retros are only as good as your facilitation.
