Fully agree on both points. They seem to have completely mis/over-read their mandate and decided to take the economy on a suicide dive based on the rantings of Silicon Valley gurus like Curtis Yarvin and Martin Gurri.

We're not in a moment where putting a new outfit on the same stale ideas aint going to work. And while the policies in IRA and BIL are overall really good and need protecting they arent wildly popular and wont be the center of a winning strategy. Its time for change. /End

Or connect programs slashed in Washington with small price bumps on energy bills months later. The last election, failure to enact BIG permitting reform, failure of charging buildout/EV infrastructure, rebellion against renewables in rural areas is people telling us something. 2/

The statement that "this is the latest refusal to accept the status quo, with the government ripping up archaic rules and saying no to the NIMBYs, to prioritise growth" is exactly the spirit that's needed in the US as well as the UK to get nuclear (and everything else) built.
