From next Monday, I will be looking to build a research sector on productivity, firms and markets at @theifs.bsky.social, and also spending more time helping the @escoeorg.bsky.social develop UK microdata. If this sounds of interest, please get in touch!

Most of all I am proud to have worked with an outstanding group of smart, dedicated and caring economists building the UK evidence on productivity, competition and innovation, including my frequent coauthors @joelkariel.bsky.social, Ana Rincon-Aznar, Rajssa Mechelli and Luke McWatters.

2) I continue to be amazed by the quality of early-career researchers and their willingness to tackle big questions: @econopete.bsky.social, @gaiadossi.bsky.social and Sergio Inferrera to name just three.

3) Great to see growing turnout from policymakers (this year, 50% of the audience).

I think this is fair but would consider also announcing this policy in your syllabus or first lecture. I suspect there may be students deserving of a recommendation (particularly from non-academic backgrounds) who don't know the norms or feel coming to your office is an imposition on you.
