I'm listening to War & Peace at the moment. Doesn't need much explanation.
Battle of Britain by James Holland is also good on Spotify. It covers whole fall of France very well, as well as the internal politics issues in the UK plane production and the birth of multi layered air defense concepts.

I tried to avoid that tax avoiding monopoly wherever possible. World of Books mate. But yeah 👍

A lot of games about revolution will also have a fighting element, but it's not always front and centre. Check out the COIN system by GMT games, it's about counter insurgency with a strong focus on hearts and minds.

Is it solitaire again? I think the system could merit boxed game treatment, esp if it has a decent two player or multiplayer option.

Interesting. Another S&T magazine game?

Yes I saw. But I think the publisher's rules have undergone more playtesting? By a combo of referencing BGG and common sense the rules the game comes with seem sufficient.
I would recommend finding some time to play the game if you can; I'm only a few turns in but it flows well and I'm enjoying it.

I thought the offensive line was too weak to stop the Pats making a serious challenge, but it seems to have been addressed?

A Very Civil Whist

Yes it's a good one. Very difficult though, which is probably accurate.

Yeah maybe. But it's static and grindy. Not that easy to model in a way that would be 'enjoyable' as a game (though I could be lacking imagination here). I also think Russia-NATO ultimately has more commercial appeal.

A concern among who? BCB is agnostic on how you fight; that's up to you. It tries to account for Russian experience by giving Russia quite a significant advantage in drones and EW. Maybe it's not enough🤷‍♂️, but it's easier for players to tweak/house rule if they are concerned about that.

Thanks for sharing, but don't worry, I've read it twice already. Today I'm going to run a test to try to replicate the Ukrainian approach (phases 4 - 6) using the Battlegroup Clash system. I'll post a blog with my findings.

1920 is a great game. Glad you got to try it.

Now just read it. I agree it's an excellent paper.
