Weapons, ok, but seizing drugs will actually make communities less safe because if you don’t replace it with something safer, gangs and organized crime will replace it with something stronger and more toxic. Plus, someone having drugs in their pocket is not a threat to public safety.

Every drug poisoning death is a policy decision. Rather than offer evidence based solutions to save lives, govts are cowardly choosing to continue failed prohibition policies. What is needed is a regulated drug supply of known content/dose, to keep people alive until they can get into treatment.
