But it's written in Wilson's unique voice, with his insightful observations about humanity, his humor and deep pathos. For a writer, it's a great reminder that you don't have to over-complicate a story to make it entertaining or profound! (3/3)

The arc was straightforward & gratifying: characters want something, set out on a journey to get it (even winning money along the way!), & end up satisfied they've gotten what they needed. And in case the reader still doesn't get it, the characters often repeat their observations/wants/desires (2/3)

Even just reading this is giving me the shakes! I think Lauren Groff does this too. Or is just lore that she writes her first drafts by hand, then locks them in a box and rewrites an entire second draft without even peeking at the first draft?
