I'm an obsessive outliner, so I find pantsing really fascinating. I've just never been able to do it. I need to have that net! Even for short stories, I'll at the very least do a quick map in a notebook.

I think it'll be an experiment someday. I do think there's such a thing as over-outlining.

That's amazing! 5k is close to my max in a day, and that would be a "close the blinds, turn off the phone, woodland noises on the TV" kind of day. I managed 3.5k today and still had time to catch up on Palm Royale, so gettin' there.

Are you a plotter/outliner or is all of that w/o a safety net?

I love a good professor-student story! In my former life, I wrote a whoooole lot of these. So naughty! LOL 🫢

Sounds like you're heading for the home stretch!

It's interesting that you keep track of the difference in word count between your two characters. I never thought to do that. I have gone back and scrutinized a few chapters when I've had a couple long or short in a row for one character.

I agree... but my old, stiff gray matter doesn't want to learn how to do it! 😂 It's a 2026 goal. All the ingredients are already on the counter.

You'll do it! 50k is a lot of real estate!

Out of curiosity, how fast do you write? My goal is one fairly clean chapter draft a day, but it's more like every 2 days with the WIP. That's usually between 2k and 3k words for me.
